Honest, inclusive, and meaningful Design

While being data-driven is deeply rooted in my design DNA, "Honest" design has become my newest statement after years of practice at Walmart. This principle originates from Dieter Rams's 10 Good Design Principles, which have profoundly shaped my approach since my very first days in industrial design.

My creativity journey …

Before 2012

Fine Art

My experience in fine art has taught me how to express spatial perception using techniques such as lines, colors, and contrasts of light and dark. These elements depict the relationships between objects in three-dimensional space, creating atmosphere and emotion in artworks. By skillfully controlling depth and breadth, I can influence how viewers emotionally engage with the work. This understanding has profoundly influenced my approach to designing physical objects.

2012 - 2018

Industrial Design

My education has equipped me with system thinking and design thinking, but my greatest influences have been the legendary designers like Johnny Ive, Steve Jobs, and Dieter Rams. I've honed my skills in starting the design process from user research, competitor analysis, and problem-solving. More importantly, I've learned a crucial distinction: Artists express their inner world through their work, while designers create solutions that solve real user problems.

In 2017, I met entrepreneurs at a coffee shop who invited me to consult on their mobile app development. This experience opened my eyes to the digital realm's beauty and potential, sparking my passion for design in this exciting field.

2019 - 2021

UX/UI - Early career

After General Assembly, I started by first role at a fast-paced design agency with enterprise software, where it taught me how to work under high pressure and focus more on design itself in order to improve my skillsets. I also joined Samsung’s mobile design team and crafting solutions for the carrier partners. It was my first to experience design culture in a large organization.

2021 - 2021

Data visualization

In 2021, I had the honor of joining Microsoft's Azure Cloud Team, where I worked on several data visualization projects. I thoroughly enjoyed working with data, and this experience significantly enhanced my skills in visual design and communication.

2022 - Present

Financial Service Design Team

In 2021, I had honor to join Microsoft’s Azure Cloud Team and delivered a series of data visualization projects. I had great fun and joy working with data and the experience gradually improved my skills in visual design and communications.

One more thing…

I love exploring the wilderness and speeding down snow-covered mountains. So, you might catch me riding a white snowboard during winter. Curious about what I'm riding? Currently, I'm on a Transition Finder 57 from KORUA SHAPES, chosen for its excellent performance and beautifully crafted design, inspired by snowboarding films.
